Privacy policy

This policy explains how we at PolicyKind, an insurance brokerage registered with RIBO in Ontario, handle your personal information when you use this website. We try to write it in plain words. If anything is unclear, ask us through the contact page.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to help you, in four groups.

• Contact details: your name, email address and phone number, and how you prefer to be reached.
• Quote details: your postal code, your vehicle, the drivers on the policy (including dates of birth, licence class and years licensed), your insurance and claims history, and any convictions you tell us about.
• Messages: anything you type into a request or contact form.
• Technical data: with your consent only, anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, device type) so we can improve the site.

We never ask for payment card numbers on this site. We do not ask for your Social Insurance Number.

Why we use it

We use your information to prepare the quote you asked for, to let a broker contact you about it, to answer your questions, and to meet our legal duties as a brokerage. We do not use it for anything unrelated to your request, and we do not sell it.

How it is protected

• Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
• Your contact details and quote answers are encrypted before they are stored.
• Access is limited to the people who need it to help you, and every access is for a stated purpose.

Who can see it

Your information is seen by the broker assigned to your request and by the small team that keeps the service running. To get you a price, your broker may share the details needed with insurance companies, only for the request you made. We do not share your information with advertisers.

Cookies and analytics

The site uses one essential cookie that keeps your quote session safe. Analytics cookies are switched on only after you accept them in the consent banner, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing the site's cookies.

How long we keep it

Placeholder. The retention period (for example, how many years a quote request or a closed file is kept) is to be confirmed with the brokerage and its legal adviser before this page is final.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA in general terms) you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
